Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

I believe that virtual worlds can be used in a number of different ways. People use virtual worlds for video games, meditating, health, educational seminars and other reasons which result in real life like experiences. Some pros of of virtual worlds are that they foster creativity and allow for users to experience events that they may otherwise be unable to. In some instances, people can be healed in health through a virtual world when they had to way to do so in the real world. Playing video games builds eye-hand coordination and also helps users relieve stress, socialize and better their communication skills. Meditating is the same in both the real world and the virtual world but sometimes you can create a different environment for yourself through a virtual world. Educational seminars are constantly growing and growing throughout the world and these are important because they connect classrooms, interns, workers, and just people in general from all over the world. In the article iReport: 'Naughty Auties' battle autism with virtual interaction, it says, "for people with autism, we've found it's a very nice way of setting up situations they might come across in their everyday lives." This goes to show how virtual worlds allow for all types of people, even those with predisposed conditions, to benefit from this opportunity.  Virtual worlds make our lives a little easier to live and make everything we want to do just a computer screen or click away. The only con I can think of with virtual worlds is the violence that may ensure. For some time now, there has been a common belief in society that playing video games results in violent teenagers and violent people overall. In the article, Virtual world may impact real-world behavior, I read that "the virtual world within video games may affect how you behave toward others in the real world." This to me, further illustrates the point about video game violence. In the future, personally, I see VR playing a huge role in how we use virtual worlds. More and more technology continues to come out but this is what fascinates me the most and what I see growing in demand. One thing for sure is that as more and more games get built for the various VR models that exist, the industry is just going to boom and boom resulting in a whole new industry of virtual worlds to emerge.
